See your iPhone photos from this exact day in past years.
Cleanuply's Journey turns your camera roll into a daily time machine. See what you photographed one, two, or five years ago today — and clean up old duplicates while you reminisce. Everything happens on your iPhone. No accounts. No uploads.
Four ways to revisit your library
Journey isn't one feature — it's four surfaces that together make daily photo cleanup feel like a memory ritual.
On This Day card
Every time you open Cleanuply, the home screen leads with photos from this exact calendar day in past years. Refreshes daily, automatically.
Browse by date
A full-screen calendar of every day with photos. Tap any past day to see the moments you captured. A progress dot tells you which days you've already reviewed.
Surprise Me
One tap jumps to a random eligible day. The 'I'm bored, show me something' button — perfect for rediscovering moments you forgot existed.
Lock Screen widget
Add the On This Day widget to your Lock Screen or Home Screen. The teaser thumbnail and count appear without you opening the app — tap to jump straight in.
Why a photo cleaner that opens daily?
Most cleanup apps are a one-time chore. Journey is the reason to come back.
When we built Cleanuply, we noticed every other photo cleaner on the App Store had the same problem: people downloaded them, freed up some storage, and never opened the app again. Cleanup is a chore. Chores don't inspire daily habits.
Memories do. We all keep photos because they tie us back to a moment — a face, a meal, a place we've been. So we built Journey: a feature that shows you what you photographed one, two, five, even ten years ago today. Every day, automatically.
And because you're already looking at those photos, Journey is also the perfect cleanup moment. The duplicates from last year's wedding? Three taps to delete. The 47 burst shots from that sunset? Pick the keeper, drop the rest. Reminisce and reclaim, in the same swipe.
Three ways people use Journey
Real moments, real ways to use it.
Relive last year's vacation
Open Cleanuply on the anniversary of your trip and instantly see every photo from that exact day. Swipe through, save the keepers, delete the duplicates, and you've cleaned up while reliving the trip.
Find the day you adopted your pet
Type any past date — your dog's gotcha day, your wedding, the day you moved — and see every photo and video from that day across all years.
Quick daily wind-down
5 minutes before bed, open the app. See what you photographed one, two, five years ago today. Decide what to keep. Free a few hundred MB. Repeat tomorrow.
Frequently asked questions
Everything you might want to know about Journey before downloading.
How does Cleanuply find photos from past years on the same day?
Cleanuply reads the date metadata from your iPhone photo library — the same data the Photos app uses for its own date filtering. The matching happens entirely on-device. No photos or dates leave your phone.
Is the Journey feature free?
Yes. Journey, the On This Day card, the calendar, Surprise Me, and the widgets are all free with no subscription required. You can also delete photos directly from a Journey day review without paying.
Does Cleanuply Journey work like Apple's Memories feature?
Apple Memories surfaces curated highlight reels with music. Cleanuply Journey is different — it shows you every photo from a specific calendar day across years, in chronological order, optimized for review and quick cleanup decisions. The two complement each other.
Can I jump to a specific past date?
Yes. Open the Journey calendar from the Library tab, scroll to any month and year, and tap the date. You'll see every photo and video from that day, regardless of how many years back.
What does the Lock Screen widget show?
The On This Day widget surfaces today's memory count and a teaser thumbnail. Tap it to deep-link straight into the Journey view for today.
Will Journey work if I have iCloud Photos enabled?
Yes, Cleanuply works with both local and iCloud-synced photos. iCloud-only photos that aren't downloaded to the device are flagged so you know what's stored where.
Find out what you were doing today, in years past.
